TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Former Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) received approval from the Taipei District Court on Monday to lift his communication restrictions, allowing him to submit his resignation as chair of the TPP to Chou Yu-shiu (周榆修).
The court granted Ko’s request, noting that his intention was strictly related to party matters and did not pose a threat to the ongoing investigation, per CNA. Ko has been detained in connection with the Core City project graft case, while the investigation now includes TPP party finances.
The case centers on the controversial expansion of the Core Pacific Mall’s floor area from 392% to 840%, and the alleged financial dealings linked to the project. Recent interrogations have involved officials from the TPP and the public relations firm Muko, which was hired to promote Ko’s presidential campaign.
