TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A student used a knife to attack an individual from another school outside Chinese Culture University (CCU) on Wednesday.
Initial reports suggest an 18-year-old student from Hsing Wu University, surnamed Cho (卓), attacked a 20-year-old CCU student, surnamed Liu (劉), per Tai Sounds and CNA. A social media dispute over relationship problems reportedly caused the disagreement.
Liu was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday night after receiving stitches in his hands. Cho remains hospitalized and will have his hand wounds stitched, according to ETtoday.
According to CCU, Cho allegedly went to the school's back gate to confront Liu. The situation escalated when the attacker produced a knife and injured the victim.
Further harm was prevented by action from campus security and bystanders, the university said. CCU confirmed that the victim, who was conscious during the incident, did not have a knife and was the sole victim of the attack.
The school reported the attack to campus security, contacted the victim's parents, and notified the police. The incident is still under investigation.
