TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei 101 will welcome the New Year with a six-minute fireworks show, longer than last year’s display.
This year’s theme, "Team Taiwan Champion," celebrates Taiwan's victory at the WBSC Premier12 baseball competition, a moment of unity and pride for the nation, the building’s management said. The display will reflect the spirit of triumph, from the nation's achievements in baseball to advancements in technology, culture, and green energy.
The event will highlight Taiwan's resilience and ability to overcome challenges. A light show will accompany the fireworks display.
Last year’s “Colorful World” show symbolized vitality and recovery in the post-pandemic era. It featured 16,000 fireworks over 300 seconds, per UDN.
For the first time this year, an animated simulation of the New Year’s Eve fireworks was not released. Instead, Legislators Wang Shih-chien (王世堅) and Lai Shyh-bao (賴士葆), along with Taipei 101 chairperson Janet Chia (賈永婕), appear in a promotional video.
