TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) received Polish Senate Deputy Speaker Michal Kaminski and his delegation on Wednesday.
Han emphasized Taiwan's appreciation for Poland's friendship and advocacy for Taiwan's inclusion in international organizations such as the World Health Organization, CNA reported. He also hoped Poland would continue supporting Taiwan once it assumes the presidency in the European Council next year.
Han recalled former Polish President Lech Walesa's 1996 address to Taiwan's Legislative Yuan, which left a profound impression on him for emphasizing democracy, human rights, and freedom.
Kaminski highlighted the shared democratic values between Taiwan and Poland. He pointed out that his delegation was bipartisan, reflecting Poland’s democratic principles of collaboration between ruling and opposition parties.
He also noted the increase in tourists and economic ties between Taiwan and Poland, expressing confidence in the potential for deeper collaboration in areas like culture, economy, and technology.
Kaminski arrived in Taiwan on Monday to discuss national defense, societal resilience, and cognitive warfare with government officials and think tanks.
