TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — DPP Secretary-General Lin Yu-chang (林右昌) will visit Japan from Dec. 7-10 to promote party diplomacy.
Representing DPP Chair Lai Ching-te (賴清德), Lin will exchange views with senior leaders and parliamentarians from Japan’s major political parties, CNA reported. The trip aims to strengthen inter-party relations and advance Taiwan-Japan development.
Lin's visit will include stops in Osaka and Tokyo, where he will hold discussions with overseas Taiwanese about the DPP’s governance philosophy and policies. Lin also plans to thank local supporters of Taiwan and strengthen bilateral party relations and cooperation.
Last month, Japanese Councilors Kitamura Tsuneo, Horii Iwao, and Hirayama visited Taiwan to hold bilateral talks with top government officials. They discussed ways to enhance Taiwan-Japan parliamentary exchanges and reflected on regional developments. The councilors also welcomed deeper ties with Taiwan during a meeting with Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍).
Before Ishiba Shigeru assumed his role as prime minister, he traveled to Taiwan in August to gain an understanding of the expectations between the two nations. He agreed with Lai’s call for partner nations to boost deterrence and preserve regional peace and security.
