TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Space Agency signed a memorandum of understanding with its Polish counterpart on Monday (Dec. 2) to establish a cooperation framework.
Polish Space Agency (POLSA) Vice President Michal Wiercinski, speaking at Taiwan International Assembly of Space Science, Technology, and Industry (TASTI), said it was POLSA’s first time attending the conference but second time meeting TASA, per CNA.
Wiercinski said the agreement is the first step in space cooperation between Poland and Taiwan. It will lay the foundation for collaboration in areas including telecom technology, earth observation, and cloud data, he said.
Wiercinski said Poland is a newcomer in the space sector compared to other European countries, joining the European Space Agency in 2012. Poland has around 70 space companies, primarily small and medium-sized enterprises.
Wiercinski said Taiwan is advanced in satellite and manufacturing technologies. Poland understands the European space market’s ecosystem, and the two countries can learn from each other through cooperation.
