TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The UK and Taiwan can partner in the space and satellite industries, UK Representative John Dennis said at the Taiwan International Assembly of Space Science, Technology, and Industry on Monday (Dec. 2).
Dennis lauded the UK’s space economy, backed by technological expertise and a robust talent pool, CNA reported. The private sector investment in the nation’s space industry ranks second globally, he said.
The representative also highlighted Taiwan’s semiconductor prowess. This makes it a leader in next-generation communications, he said. He stressed that the UK and Taiwan can become super allies in the space and satellite sectors, working closely on policy sharing, industrial growth, and R&D.
The British Office Taipei said that as part of TASTI, it will co-host the first UK-Taiwan Space Industry Roundtable on Tuesday in collaboration with the Taiwan Space Agency, the Taiwan Space Industry Development Association, and the Taiwan LEO Satellite Industry Association. The event will focus on the UK’s expertise in the low-Earth orbit satellite sector and how Taiwan’s IT industry can develop valuable satellite communication components and CubeSat manufacturing for the space ecosystem.
