TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei was ranked 76th in the 2025 World’s Best Cities report, released by marketing consultancy Resonance and market research firm Ipsos.
The report ranked 270 cities worldwide based on livability, lovability, and prosperity. It surveyed more than 22,000 people in 30 countries, per Resonance.
Taipei was highlighted for its diverse culinary scene, including boba tea, Mongolian barbecue, and Michelin-starred Din Tai Fung. The city also boasts numerous markets such as Shida, the report mentioned, and gourmet restaurants including RAW and Mume.
The city's easily accessible natural beauty, such as Yangmingshan National Park, and world-class healthcare system also contributed to its ranking. Taiwan's progressive social policies, including being the first in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage, make Taipei an inclusive environment.
Taipei is also home to companies like Acer and Asus as a global tech and semiconductor hub.
London topped the list for the 10th consecutive year, recognized for its resilience in facing challenges like Brexit and its continued global appeal. The top 10 cities, in order, are London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, Singapore, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin, and Sydney.
Livability was assessed based on factors such as green space, bike-friendliness, and the number of parks, sights, neighborhoods, and landmarks recommended online. Natural attributes like tree cover and air quality and socioeconomic factors like affordable housing and cost of living were also considered.
Lovability was measured by online mentions and recommendations on platforms like TripAdvisor, Instagram, Facebook, and Google. Prosperity was evaluated based on factors like airport connectivity and the number and ranking of local universities and technical colleges.
