Taipei (Taiwan News) – Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Place has set up its “Nordic Christmas Village” in Taipei's Xinyi District.
Inspired by Icelandic Yule Lads folklore and in collaboration with Finnish contemporary artist Janine Rewell, this enchanting winter wonderland will run until Jan. 2 next year.
The centerpiece is a 20-meter-tall Christmas tree named the "Christmas Spirit Forest." Adorned with thousands of lights and a warm cream color, the tree stands tall at the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A11 north door, according to a press release.
Around the tree are daily light and music shows running every 15 minutes from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Visitors can step into a giant, illuminated crystal ball at the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A4 south door. For a more intimate experience, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi members can visit the Dream House at A9, a cozy space designed to resemble Santa's home, complete with a fireplace and television.
An illusion gallery and the ice crystal tunnel connect the A11 and A8 buildings, transporting visitors to a magical winter wonderland. The festivities extend to the Shante Plaza.
Shin Kong Mitsukoshi has invited a Santa Claus from the Finnish Santa Claus Village. Visitors can meet Santa at the Dream House at A9.
There will be a special meet-and-greet with Santa on Dec. 13 and 14. On Dec. 15, the mall will host a "Santa Con," recreating the festive event popular in New York City.
