TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) awarded green certificates to 21 businesses at a sustainability forum on Thursday (Nov. 28).
A press release said the businesses span three industries: food and beverage, wholesale and retail, and lifestyle services. They used energy-saving equipment and carbon reduction plans to promote environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies, per CNA.
Huang said this time marks the second year of the awards and thanked the stores for their support. He said he hoped more businesses would join to create a snowball effect.
Kaohsiung City Government Economic Development Bureau said through its guidance, businesses are better prepared for a green transition. These efforts make consumers care not just about shopping but also support brand values, it said.
The bureau added the city government will continue to assist small and medium-sized businesses to create a sustainable environment.
