TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred in northeast Taiwan at 11:32 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 27), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
As of publication, no injuries nor damage from the earthquake were reported. Taiwan uses an intensity scale of 1 to 7 to gauge the degree to which a quake is felt at a specific location.
The quake’s intensity registered a 3 Hualien County, Yilan County, Nantou County, and Taichung. An intensity level 2 was reported in Hsinchu County, New Taipei, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Taitung County, and Chiayi.
An intensity level 1 was measured in Taoyuan, Miaoli County, Taipei, Keelung, Hsinchu, Kaohsiung, and Tainan.
The CWA said its epicenter was 10.2 km northeast of Hualien County Hall with a 41.1 km focal depth.
