TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said Monday (Nov. 25) that it has assisted nearly 6,000 companies with reducing carbon emissions so far this year, with estimated business opportunities reaching US$50 million (NT$1.62 billion).
Director-General International Trade Administration (TITA) Cynthia Kiang (江文若) at a press conference spoke about the ministry’s carbon reduction achievements and new packaging design for export products, per CNA.
Kiang said in recent years, meetings with over 20 industry associations have shown that businesses have a strong demand for digitalization and low-carbon sustainability. She added that digitalization helps automate processes and reduces human error.
Kiang added that approximately 50 Taiwanese exhibition projects have obtained ISO international certifications, the best performance in Asia. Additionally, the exhibition industry has reduced carbon emissions by over 100 tons this year.
Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said since 2013, they have been leading venues and exhibition activities, helping exhibition organizers obtain ISO certifications. This year, they aim to accumulate 50 international certifications.
TAITRA added that this year’s achievement event featured five major exhibition areas, including projects for digitally assisting overseas customers and carbon reduction packaging.
