TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A parade will be held in Taipei on Tuesday (Nov. 26) to honor the Taiwan baseball team after their historic victory in the WBSC Premier12 championship in Tokyo on Sunday.
Taiwan clinched the championship, marking the team’s first triumph at a world-class national-level baseball event, by defeating Japan 4-0 at the Tokyo Dome. The parade will start at 3:20 p.m. on Ketagalan Boulevard to celebrate the team's historic victory, per the General Assembly of Chinese Culture (GACC).
The parade route begins at the intersection of Ketagalan Boulevard and Gongyuan Road. It will proceed along Xiangyang Road, turn onto Guanqian Road, and lead to “Hero Valley” (英雄谷), where confetti will be released to honor the team.
From there, the parade will turn left onto the south side of Zhongxiao West Road, then left again onto Chongqing South Road Section 1, culminating at the Presidential Office Building.
Eight tents will be set up along the route to distribute exclusive “Team Taiwan” flags and small national flags. Distribution points include the Taipei Guest House side of Gongyuan Road, the intersections of Gongyuan and Xiangyang Roads, and Xiangyang and Guanqian Roads.
Additional points include outside Holiday KTV and UNIQLO on Guanqian Road, outside Hong Rui Chen Bakery on Zhongxiao West Road Section 1, and in front of Hua Nan Commercial Bank and Taiwan Business Bank on Chongqing South Road Section 1.
A “Baseball Heroes Support Station” will be set up outside Hua Nan Commercial Bank on Chongqing South Road Section 1, featuring the Lei Sheng Art Group performing victory drumbeats to welcome the athletes’ motorcade.
Additionally, a “Fearless Taiwan Support Station” will be located in front of Taiwan Business Bank on Chongqing South Road Section 1. Here, cheerleaders from Taiwan’s six professional baseball teams will perform this year’s WBSC Premier12 theme song and lead a street-wide singalong with the crowd.
When the parade arrives at the Presidential Office Building, the team will pass through a saber arch formed by the honor guard. President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) will thank the team on behalf of the country for showcasing Taiwan to the world.
Those unable to attend in person can watch the live broadcast on Lai’s YouTube channel and the GACC Facebook page. Residents are encouraged to cheer for Taiwan’s team both online and offline.
