TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan officials said 15 earthquakes struck the city between 6.45 p.m. Friday (Nov. 22) and 2.45 a.m. (Saturday).
Tainan City Government told CNA on Saturday no major incidents were reported after the earthquakes. It said three residents were evacuated from a house damaged in Jiali District and placed in a hotel.
The city said some other houses and temples were damaged and there were power outages in eight households. It said damage to buildings included water pipes falling off some structures and walls cracking.
The city said 12 of the 15 earthquakes were centered in Madou District, two were in Jiali District, and the other was in the Xiaying District. The strongest shaking was felt in Jiali District where one of the earthquakes registered a magnitude of 5.4 and reached five out of seven on the Central Wealth Bureau’s (CWA) intensity scale.
