TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A magnitude 5.4 earthquake occurred in Tainan at 8.40 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 22), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
The earthquake occurred around 23 kilometers north of Tainan City Hall at a depth of 7.7 kilometers. No injuries or damage from the shake were reported as of press time.
The CWA reported the earthquake was felt the length of Taiwan. The shaking registered a 5 on the CWA’s intensity scale in Tainan, and 4 in Yunlin and Chiayi.
The intensity scale uses the numbers 1 to 7 to gauge the degree to which a quake is felt.
