TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan’s export orders rose by 4.9% in October compared to the same month last year due to strong demand for AI products, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said Wednesday (Nov. 20).
The October total of US$55.45 billion (NT$1.80 trillion) new data marked the eighth consecutive increase, per CNA. Export orders for the first 10 months of the year totaled US$484.35 billion, 3.8% more than during the same period in 2023.
The MOEA named demand for AI, cloud computing, and high-performance computing (HPC) products as the main contributors to the improving picture.
Export orders for information and telecommunication products showed a limited increase of 0.5% from October 2023 to US$17.58 billion, while orders for electronics products surged by 11.2% from October 2023 to US$20.91 billion.
