TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Water completed four major valve and pipeline projects in Taichung City, with the water supply returning after a 36-hour outage to 11 municipal districts by 10 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 19).
Taiwan Water said the upgrade was necessary to maintain a stable water supply for residents in areas such as Tanzi, Daya, and Beitun. More than 200,000 residents and industrial users were without water while work was undertaken, according to Taiwan Water's District 4 Office, per UDN.
Taiwan Water said the valve and pipeline upgrade project was planned well in advance, with residents and businesses notified through multiple channels to make preparations such as filling water towers and reservoirs. Such actions limited the inconvenience of interrupted water supply during the outage.
Taiwan Water said the valve and pipeline upgrade was completed on schedule. It thanked the Taichung City Government for its assistance as well as the cooperation and understanding of all affected citizens.
Residents who continue to experience water supply problems can report the issue via the 1910 customer service hotline.
