TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A magnitude 4.6 earthquake occurred in southwest Taiwan at 12:23 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 20), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
As of publication, no injuries or damage from the earthquake were reported. Taiwan uses an intensity scale of 1 to 7 to gauge the degree to which a quake is felt at a specific location.
The quake’s intensity registered a 4 in Chiayi County, while an intensity level of 3 was recorded in Tainan and Yunlin County. An intensity level of 2 was reported in Chiayi, Kaohsiung, Penghu County, and Changhua County.
An intensity level of 1 was measured in Nantou County, Taitung County, Taichung, Hualien County, and Miaoli County.
The CWA said its epicenter was 13.9 km south-southwest of Chiayi County Hall with an 11.7 km focal depth.
