TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Lithuanian government said it is committed to resolving any issues facing the proposed Taiwanese semiconductor factory in Vilnius on Monday (Nov. 18).
The statement comes as Teltonika President Arvydas Paukstys said Friday (Nov. 15) that the planned fab will be suspended. He cited a lack of adequate power and rezoning issues.
Following a meeting between Lithuania Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte and Paukstys on Monday to discuss the issues, Paukstys said, “The high-tech park construction is expected to be delayed by two to three years.”
“Initially planned for completion by 2028, we now hope to finish by 2032 at the latest, assuming no further obstacles arise,” he added, per CNA.
Minister of Economy and Innovation Ausrine Armonaite said the ministry needs to coordinate land division issues with 18 institutions, including the military. The technical conditions have been confirmed and planning work will continue, she said.
Armonaite added that national projects require coordination not only at the institutional level but also intervention at the prime ministerial or specialized committee level.
