TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A magnitude 4.6 earthquake occurred in east Taiwan at 9:27 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 18), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
As of publication, no injuries or damage from the earthquake were reported. Taiwan uses an intensity scale of 1 to 7 to gauge the degree to which a quake is felt at a specific location.
The quake’s intensity registered a 3 in Hualien, while an intensity level of 2 was recorded in Yilan County, Nantou County, and Taichung.
An intensity level of 1 was reported in Hsinchu County, Taoyuan, New Taipei, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Taitung County, Chiayi County, Miaoli County, and Chiayi.
The CWA said its epicenter was 19.2 km north-northeast of Hualien County Hall with a 26.9 km focal depth.
