TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck Tainan at 3:01 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 16), the Central Weather Administration (CWA) reported.
The quake’s epicenter was 23 kilometers north of Tainan City Hall in Madou District, with a focal depth of 11.7 km.
The quake’s biggest intensity level reached level 4 in Tainan’s Jiali District and level 3 in other parts of Tainan, Chiayi City, and Chiayi County’s Yizhu and Taibao. Taiwan uses an intensity scale of 1 to 7, which gauges the degree to which a quake is felt at a specific location.
No damage or casualties were immediately reported from the area.
