TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Malaysian Friendship and Trade Center (MFTC) Taipei celebrated Malaysia’s 67th national day and 61st Malaysia Day at Grand Hyatt Taipei on Friday (Nov. 15), attracting over 200 government officials and trade representatives.
MFTC Taipei President Aznifah Isnariah Abdul Ghani said in her opening speech the event was more than just a gathering, it was a reflection of connection and warmth between the two nations.
Ghani said she was proud of the approximately 30,000 Malaysian professionals who call Taiwan home. She also said the 10,000 Malaysian students studying in Taiwan represent Malaysia’s brightest minds and will become future leaders.

Ghani added that trade between Malaysia and Taiwan has seen tremendous growth. From January to August, the trade value reached US$24.34 billion (NT$790.9 billion), a 31.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
Looking ahead, Ghani said she is excited about Malaysia’s trajectory when it comes to the halal market. She said she encourages Taiwanese businesses to take advantage of Malaysia’s halal ecosystem, ranging from food to cosmetics.
“Malaysia’s well-established halal infrastructure can provide an ideal gateway for Taiwanese businesses to reach the global Muslim market,” she said.
