TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan beat the Dominican Republic 2-1 on Thursday (Nov. 14), securing their second consecutive victory in the WBSC Premier12 Championship Group B.
Shortstop Chiang Kun-Yu (江坤宇) scored a home run in the third inning off Dominican starting pitcher Pedro Fernandez. Taiwan scored its second run in the eighth inning after a sacrifice fly Lin Li (林立).
Pitcher Huang Zi-peng (黃子鵬) pitched six innings without a hit. Reports said he left the game due to foot cramps, as relief pitchers took over.
The second game at Taipei Dome saw 20,388 spectators. Taiwan will play Japan on Saturday (Nov. 16).
