TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The National Security Bureau (NSB) on Tuesday (Nov. 12) outlined seven key policy objectives for next year.
In addition to setting a budget of more than NT$1.083 billion (US$33.35 million) for 2025, the NSB also listed the following goals:
- Anticipating trends in technology to strengthen information management.
- Leveraging technological innovation to improve secretarial efficiency.
- Enhancing logistical support to aid intelligence work.
- Improving personnel management to strengthen workforce capabilities.
- Boosting accounting efficiency for optimized resource allocation.
- Enforcing integrity policies to ensure internal security.
- Improving training for security personnel to enhance skills.
To address emerging cyber threats, the NSB emphasized that evolving cyberattacks from Chinese forces and international hackers pose a serious risk to national security. The bureau plans to progressively improve its cybersecurity defenses, enhance auditing, expand control measures, and increase security depth to protect information transmission facilities. Additionally, the NSB said it aims to ensure stable and effective intelligence systems.
To use more innovative technology, the NSB said it will enhance foreign language translation for meetings and information exchanges to boost intelligence-sharing capabilities.
Regarding personnel management, the NSB plans to broaden recruitment channels for specialized talent to strengthen special security, intelligence, and technology capacities. It will also train cybersecurity professionals to bolster capabilities in cyberspace and implement more analysis and emergency drills to improve intelligence analysis skills.
