TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The National Palace Museum (NPM) in Taipei on Monday (Nov. 11) exceeded in 2024 the number of 1,552,190 visitors it received in 2023.
Eleven visitors, from No. 1,552,186 to No. 1,552,196, received souvenirs at a ceremony Monday. The number of visitors did not include the famous art museum’s southern branch in Chiayi County.
The lucky visitors came from Germany, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, per CNA. The German couple registered as No. 1,552,191 said it was their first trip to Taiwan, calling the museum a must-visit site for its extensive world-class art collection.
Visitors until September were almost evenly split between Taiwan and overseas, with South Korea and Japan the most important sources of foreign visitors. Japanese students have also increased, as museum officials said they would continue organizing exhibitions and educational programs.
