TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) envoy Lin Hsin-yi (林信義) pledged to enhance Taiwan’s visibility and strategic importance on the global stage at this year’s APEC summit in Lima, Peru.
At a pre-departure press conference on Sunday (Nov. 10), Lin said he would convey Taiwan’s commitment to supporting peace and stable development in the Asia-Pacific region, positioning Taiwan as a trustworthy, responsible member of the international community, CNA reported. He also vowed to garner support from more international allies.
Lin is a presidential advisor and consultant to the Cabinet’s Economic Development Council. A retired senior official who worked closely with Lin noted that his fluency in English and Japanese has allowed him to communicate effortlessly with international clients.
His knowledge and business experience make him a true industry expert, able to address domestic and international economic issues with clarity and insight, the person added.
This year’s APEC summit in Peru centers on the theme “Empower. Include. Grow.,” focusing on three key policy areas: promoting inclusive and interconnected growth through trade and investment, fostering economic transformation through innovation and digitalization, and enhancing sustainable growth for resilience. The summit will run from Nov. 10-16.
