TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taoyuan’s Department of Agriculture used drones on Tuesday (Nov. 5) to distribute fire ant bait around Yubei Village in Daxi District and reduce the fire ant population.

Fire ant control in the area can be difficult due to the terrain and other factors, according to UDN. However, drone technology can make it more efficient, meaning it can be done in one day.

This year, three drone-based bait laying missions have taken place in Yuebei, on fallow land.

The drone operations occurred at the site where Taoyuan Flower Festival will take place from Nov. 16-24, featuring floral displays and agricultural products.
