TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei officials said on Tuesday (Nov. 5) that services to the Taipei Dome may be cut off if a safety inspection of the venue is not carried out.
The Taipei City Construction Management Office said that a safety inspection declaration for the Taipei Dome was due on Sunday (Nov. 3) but it was not submitted, per CNA.
It said that if the declaration is not submitted within 10 days of the deadline Taipei Dome management company Farglory would be fined NT$300,000 (US$9,330). It also said “coercive measures” such as cutting the power and electricity supply may be taken.
The office said that buildings used by the public are required to undergo a safety inspection according to Article 77 of the Building Act. The article outlines inspections for fire safety, insurance compliance, licenses for mechanical equipment, parking, and others.
The office said notices warning the Taipei Dome has not been inspected have been posted on entrances to the venue to warn the public. Farglory has already been fined NT$120,000 for missing the deadline, it said.
The Taipei Dome has experienced leaks since it opened for trial operations in November 2023, though it has continued to host concerts and sports events.
