TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A new tropical storm could affect the weather in Taiwan by the weekend.
The Central Weather Administration (CWA) said on Monday (Nov. 4) that a tropical depression east of the Philippines had been upgraded to Tropical Storm Yinxing (銀杏), the 22nd tropical storm of the year.
Meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) said that over the next three days, Yinxing will move northwest, approaching the southeastern seas of Taiwan in three to five days, but its path is still uncertain.
On Monday, Wu said there is a chance of showers in the north, east, and southern mountainous areas, while the rest of Taiwan will see partly cloudy to sunny skies. Wu said a northeast monsoon could bring showers to the north and east from Tuesday to Thursday.
Wu said starting Tuesday, the north will turn cooler while central and southern regions will see warm daytime temperatures and cool mornings and nights. The north could also see lows of 16 C on Wednesday and Thursday in flat areas.
