TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The ABV Izakaya in Taipei has launched a special menu featuring cuisine from Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture.
The restaurant recreated several classic Shizuoka dishes, including wagyu yakisoba, wasabi fried chicken, and Shizuoka-style simmered fish.
The menu draws from carefully selected local ingredients such as sakura shrimp and shirasu (whitebait), allowing diners in Taiwan to enjoy the authentic flavors of Shizuoka without the need to travel. Shizuoka’s culinary culture reflects a deep respect for ingredients and the artistry of fine cooking.
One of its unique specialties, sakura shrimp, is exclusively harvested off the coast of Shizuoka; its pink hue and sweet flavor make it a favorite among foodies. Additionally, Shizuoka is a major tea-producing region, celebrated for its high-quality green tea with an elegant aroma and a lingering sweetness.
Shizuoka Prefecture, located in central Japan, is renowned for its stunning Mount Fuji, rich natural resources, and traditional culture. The distinct four seasons here produce flavorful local agricultural products, seafood, and tea, making Shizuoka an essential culinary source in Japan.
The limited menu is divided into two phases. The first phase will last from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31 and features four dishes. The second phase will run from Jan. 1, 2025, to Feb. 28 and offers four different dishes.
