TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A Kaohsiung Halloween parade at Aozidi Forest Park on Saturday evening (Oct. 26) attracted an estimated 80,000 participants, including Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai 陳其邁 and American Institute in Taiwan Kaohsiung Branch Chief Neil H. Gibson.
The parade was led by XS cartoon characters from the Public Television System (PTS), along with theater companies such as Australia’s Curious Legends, On.P. Young, and Glory South. The theater companies led the parade, joined by both young and old citizens dressed in costume, per NOWnews.
The Kaohsiung mayor was dressed in a black chef’s outfit. He took photos with participants, handed out candy, and led the parade along Shennong Road, circling Aozidi Forest Park.

In addition to professional theater performers, children from local kindergartens and elementary schools also formed a team of “little ghosts,” which walked the parade route. Others were clad in attractive costumes, such as Formosan black bears and Mandarin oranges.
Kaohsiung City Government said Halloween activities will continue at Aozidi Forest Park until Nov. 3. A street graffiti event is scheduled for Sunday (Oct. 27), and an outdoor market and other performances will be performed near the oversized inflatable Jack-o-lantern in the park.
The public is invited to participate in all of the Halloween-themed activities. Citizens are encouraged to take public transportation to avoid congestion and delays.
