TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Pingtung Manzhou Jialeshuei International Surfing Competition will be held at Manzhou Township Jialeshui Fishing Village Park from Nov. 1-3.
Celebrating its 18th anniversary this year, the event has expanded into an Asia-wide competition in collaboration with the Asian Surf Co. (ASC). It will feature the first ASC Longboard Open.
The goal of the competition is to promote Jialeshui in Pingtung’s Manzhou Township as a "surf village" and establish it as a prime destination for surfers across Asia.
The theme for this year, “Going International, Welcome Back to Jialeshui,” is a launchpad for collaboration with ASC and a platform to boost global exposure for Jialeshui. So far, nearly 350 surfers from 10 countries have registered, setting a record for the most participants and nationalities in a Taiwanese surfing competition.

The event will span three days, with the first and second days in two separate venues to accommodate the large number of athletes. This marks the first international surfing competition in Taiwan to split into two venues to accommodate the record-high number of participants.
Zone A will host the ASC international preliminary events, the ASC Longboard Open, and domestic amateur divisions. Meanwhile, Zone B will feature Taiwan’s amateur longboard competition.

Jialeshui Fishing Village Park will not only serve as the competition site but also as a vibrant carnival featuring diverse activities, including a festive marketplace and live music, adding a lively atmosphere to the event.
The theme "Going International, Welcome Back to Jialeshui" aims to open the doors for global travelers to experience Pingtung County and Manzhou Township, establishing it as a prominent surfing destination in Asia.
