TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A Spanish national wanted for fraud who was deported from Taiwan and rejected by Singapore over the weekend reportedly landed in Germany on Monday (Oct. 21).
Salvador Alejandro Llinas Onate, 47, who had been living in Taiwan for several years, was allegedly involved in the illegal sale of 1,200 rental cars worth NT$1 billion (US$31 million) in Italy. He was listed as a suspect on Interpol’s Red Notice.
On Saturday (Oct. 19), he was deported to Singapore by Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency (NIA). Despite winning an appeal after deportation, he remained listed as persona non grata.
Singapore refused him entry due to his status as an internationally wanted criminal and deported him back to Taiwan early Sunday morning (Oct. 20), per CNA. He was placed in a holding area at Taoyuan Airport while authorities sought another country willing to accept him for transit.
On Sunday evening, the NIA arranged for Llinas to be deported to an EU country. On Monday, ETtoday. reported that Germany was the designated destination, and he arrived in Frankfurt that afternoon.
Llinas boarded China Airlines Flight CI61 from Taoyuan Airport at 10:46 p.m. on Sunday and arrived at Frankfurt International Airport at 7:15 a.m. local time (1:15 p.m. Taiwan time) on Monday. Germany will decide whether to transfer Llinas to Spain, though it is likely he will eventually be handed over to Italy, the country that issued the original warrant.
