Taipei Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025 showcases typical scenes in Taipei. From traditional markets to modern supermarkets, the event captures the essence of Taiwanese life.
Iconic locations like Dadaocheng's brush shops, night market snacks, pedestrian overpasses, and the Nanjinchang Apartment are reimagined with innovative visuals. These familiar places, imbued with collective memories, create a new definition of "Taiwan Type" fashion, its everyday nature, and its distinct position in global fashion.
The opening show featured a remarkable collaboration between six fashion designers and six Taiwanese original IP (intellectual property) creators. It built upon the success of the 2024 Creative Expo Taiwan, where original IP creations made a significant impact.
The designers' innovative creations brought to life the unique worldviews and stories behind each IP. In addition to the opening show, Taipei Fashion Week will host a series of independent brand shows, static exhibitions, and buyer meetings throughout the event.
Taipei Fashion Week opened on Taiwan Cultural Day, marking the centennial of the Taiwan Cultural Association. This association has played a crucial role in shaping a unique Taiwanese cultural identity.
The timing of this year's event is particularly significant, as mentioned by Minister of Culture Li Yuan (李遠), since a century after the Taiwan Cultural Association's founding, “Taiwanese culture is now well-defined.”
All 700 tickets for the opening show were sold out in nine minutes. The Ministry of Culture (MOC), which aims to foster creativity and innovation noted that this demonstrates the growing influence of Taiwanese design on the global stage.
The collaborative partnerships between fashion brands and IP creators blurred the lines between fashion and art. These collaborations included “.67Arrow X Saitemiss (低級失誤),” “#Damur X wei wei boy,” “Dycteam X Raimochi,” “Ray Chu X michun,” “Story Wear X Fish Wang (王登鈺),” and “Tangtsungchien X Sammi (夏仙).”
Extending the performance of the opening show, models showcased their designs amidst art installations, offering a closer look at the runway looks. The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge from Friday (Oct. 18) to Monday (Oct. 21).
The exhibition is split into six zones, each showcasing a unique blend of graphic IP and fashion design. For the first time, a pop-up shop will feature limited-edition merchandise and collaborations between graphic IP artists and fashion designers, available exclusively during Taipei Fashion Week.
