TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A weather front and a northeast monsoon are forecast to move south bringing cooler weather to the north on Saturday (Oct. 19).
On Wednesday, showers are expected in Keelung, Yilan, Hualien, Greater Taipei, Taoyuan, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula, per SET News. Skies will be mostly cloudy to clear from Hsinchu southwards, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, while there may be isolated afternoon thunderstorms in mountainous areas and the south.
Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) said starting Saturday due to a weather front and a northeast monsoon the north and northeast will see cooler temperatures with highs falling to 26 and 27 C. Keelung's North Coast, Greater Taipei, and the northeast could also see heavy rain.
The weather in central and southern Taiwan will remain relatively stable, with cooler mornings and evenings. South and central mountainous areas could also experience brief afternoon thunderstorms.
