TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Northeasterly monsoon winds will weaken beginning on Sunday (Oct. 13), leading temperatures in central and southern regions of Taiwan to rise above 30 C, while highs in northern and eastern areas will be between 28 and 30 C.
Unseasonably warm temperatures and stable weather are expected to continue across Taiwan throughout the week until Friday (Oct. 18), per Liberty Times.
WeatherRisk forecaster Liao Yu-ting (廖于霆) said a high-pressure system is gradually moving to the southeast, causing Taiwan’s west coast to shift to the leeward side. Temperatures across Taiwan will also generally rise.
In the upcoming week, there are no signs of tropical depressions in the waters off China, Japan, and South Korea. For this reason, Taiwan will benefit from warm, clear, and stable weather. Occasional thundershowers could occur in central and southern mountainous regions.
Liao said the next wave of northeasterly monsoon winds is expected to arrive on Saturday (Oct. 19), ushering in cooler temperatures and rainfall. As northeasterly monsoon winds move southward, air quality will be negatively affected.
In addition, afternoon convection in mountainous areas could further affect air quality. Groups sensitive to air quality are advised to avoid prolonged outdoor activities.
