TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The seventh Innovative Optical and Wireless Networks (IOWN) Global Forum opened Wednesday (Oct. 9) in Taipei, featuring tech companies including Chunghwa Telecom, Sony, and Intel.
According to a Chunghua Telecom press release, this year marks the first time the forum was held in Taiwan. The company showcased progress in remotely controlling all-optical networks and high-speed cross-cloud virtual machine migration, per CNA.
The company said it aims to accelerate the development of global network communication products to ensure that all-optical network technology plays a crucial role in future applications.
Chunghwa Telecom Chief Technology Officer Huang Chih-hsiung (黃志雄) said with the development of AI and cloud computing, next-generation ICT services require higher transmission bandwidth and lower latency.
IOWN Global Forum was established in 2020. It aims to develop all-optical networks, distributed computing, and innovative application services.
