TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The consumer price index (CPI) in September dropped below 2% in September to reach 1.82%, its lowest level in eight months, the government said Wednesday (Oct. 9).
When leaving out the prices of fruit, vegetables, and energy, core inflation stood at 1.79% in September, per CNA.
The CPI for basic consumer products fell 0.01% compared to a year earlier, with eggs registering a price drop of 18.45% from September 2023.
In January, the CPI fell to 1.80%, with the lowest level since 2021 registered as 1.75% in June 2023, according to the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS).
