TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The National Science and Technology Council (NTSC) approved 10 investment projects with a total investment amount of NT$10.35 billion (US$321 million) for research and science parks on Friday (Oct. 4).
According to a Friday press release, among the seven publicly disclosed cases, the largest investment is NT$5 billion from Radiant Opto-Electronics to produce wafer-level optics in Hsinchu Science Park. The NSTC also announced six capital increase cases, totaling NT$3.13 billion, per CNA.
Champion Semiconductor Co., Ltd. will invest NT$1.5 billion in Hsinchu Science Park, primarily producing GaN (gallium nitride) power products. Winstek Semiconductor Technology will invest NT$1.25 billion in Hsinchu Science Park to produce 2.5D/3D IC packaging.
Meanwhile, Midas Precision will invest NT$200 million in Central Taiwan Science Park, producing graphite products for the optoelectronics and semiconductor industries. The NSTC said the company is developing coated graphite products with oxidation and corrosion resistance.
Additionally, AMS BioteQ will invest NT$200 million in Southern Taiwan Science Park, developing wound care and antiviral products.
