TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) founder Morris Chang (張忠謀) said Friday (Oct. 4) the second part of his autobiography would see the light before the end of November.
The book will cover the period from his work at Texas Instruments in 1964 to his retirement from TSMC in 2018, per CNA. Chang, 93, discussed the earlier part of his life in a memoir published in 1998. He said he had completed proofreading for the new book two weeks ago, allowing for a publication date in late November.
After leaving Texas Instruments in 1983, Chang moved to Taiwan to head the government-backed Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) before founding TSMC in 1987. Under his leadership, the company became the world’s largest provider of semiconductors for computers and other popular products of the electronics industry.
In addition to his achievements in the world of business, Taiwan presidents also sought Chang out to represent them at Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summits. He attended the forums seven times between 2006 and 2023.
The TSMC founder said Friday that before the autobiography’s publication, he would attend the company’s annual sports day on Oct. 26. The event is the highlight of his year, he said.
