TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The creator of “Suit Travel,” Japan’s number one YouTube travel channel, was invited in August by Taipei City Government to produce the video “3-Day Trip to Taipei: Easy Travel to Taiwan.”
According to statistics from Taiwan’s Tourism Administration, 930,000 Japanese tourists visited Taiwan in 2023. This figure means Japan has the second largest group of tourists visiting Taiwan, following Hong Kong, which was in first place.
To attract more Japanese visitors, the popular YouTuber behind the channel “Suit Travel,” with 995,000 subscribers, was invited to visit many of the popular tourist destinations in Taipei. The channel is notable as the narrator always wears a suit when he travels and is known for taking public transportation such as subways, trains, and bicycles, per a Taipei City Government press release.

Furthermore, extensive research goes into each episode, which is heavy on historical information and local knowledge. For this video, Taipei’s convenient public transportation, traditional neighborhoods, and culinary delights were featured.
“Suit Travel” also went to great lengths to describe the charm and enthusiasm of Taipei citizens, and their hospitable nature towards foreign guests, and especially the Japanese. The video showed that many local restaurants not only provide Japanese menus and translations, but also many store clerks and waiters are eager to communicate in Japanese.
This led “Suit Travel” to conclude that he would return to Taipei if given the chance.
A few of the tourist locations covered in this episode included Taipei 101’s Observation Deck, Ximending, Beimen, Longshan Temple, Dadaocheng, Beitou, and the National Palace Museum. As a bonus, periods, a brilliant fireworks show hosted by Dadaocheng made the final cut.
And when it came to Taiwanese food, some of the signature items featured in the episode include beef noodle soup, fish ball soup, a “Taiwanese” ramen, and other snacks. The episode featuring Taipei was released online Sept. 28, and has already attracted 279,000 views.
The Taipei City Information and Tourism Department said that it will continue to invite key opinion leaders from Japan to visit Taipei. Tourism officials will also use various other channels, such as a presence at Japanese festivals and engaging in outdoor advertising, to attract more Japanese visitors to experience Taipei.
