TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) will run two trains per hour between Nangang and Zuoying on Wednesday (Oct. 2) due to Typhoon Krathon.
The adjusted operating schedule will be implemented from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Both northbound trains departing from Zuoying and southbound trains departing from Nangang will stop at all stations along the route, per CNA.
Trains will depart from the terminal stations every hour and half-hour. All seats, except for business class seats, will be unreserved, and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Extra trains will depart from Nangang and Zuoying stations at 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., respectively. These trains will only travel to Taichung, per THSR.
If wind speeds or rainfall exceed operational limits in certain areas during the typhoon, trains may need to slow down to ensure safety, the THSR said. Delays caused by weather will not be eligible for refunds.
Typhoon Krathon has been stagnant for the past three hours, with its center located southwest of Kaohsiung. Its outer bands have made landfall in areas south of Chiayi and Taitung, per CNA.
Tickets purchased during the typhoon sea warning period can be refunded at stations without a service fee. Refunds are valid for one year from the date of the ticket.
The THSR's operating schedule for Thursday (Oct. 3) will be announced Wednesday evening.
