TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Yunlin's National Hu-Wei Senior High School issued a statement Tuesday (Oct. 1) following allegations of a school bus driver assaulting a student.
A video posted to social media platform Threads showed the bus driver in a physical altercation with a student. The incident reportedly happened after the driver started checking students' tickets and used insulting language toward them, including referring to the students as “a bunch of brats,” per CNA.
The school expressed deep regret for the incident and informed the public that the bus company had replaced the bus driver. The student's parents were notified immediately.
The student's parents have reported the incident to appropriate authorities. Counseling services will be provided for the attacked student and other students who witnessed the incident.
The school and the bus company are working together to investigate the matter to determine the exact circumstances leading to the assault. The school has made it clear that it will not tolerate any form of violence or misconduct, whether directed at students or others.
