TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A truck carrying products from the e-commerce company Shopee burst into flames on Wednesday (Sept. 25).
At 2:28 a.m., Hsinchu City Fire Department received a report that a vehicle was on fire on Jinguo Bridge, which connects Hsinchu with Zhubei City in Hsinchu County, per Liberty Times. The fire department dispatched four fire engines and 10 firefighters to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a large truck ablaze, but the driver had managed to escape unharmed. Firefighters found that the truck's cargo consisted of Shopee goods that did not contain hazardous materials.
The fire was extinguished by 3:40 a.m. and a private company was notified to handle the cleanup. As of 8:40 a.m., the road surface cleaning was still ongoing with one of the bridge's lanes closed to traffic.
The police advised motorists passing through the area to take alternate routes or proceed with caution.
