TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) said Taiwan will not see the first wave of cold weather until mid-to-late October.
Lin, head of National Taiwan University's Center for Weather and Climate Disaster Research, said on Facebook that the autumnal equinox occurred on Sunday (Sept. 22), heralding the start of fall. Lin said as the days grow shorter and nights longer, temperatures across Taiwan will gradually cool.
Lin said a frontal system will gradually shift northward to the waters north of Taiwan on Tuesday, with rainfall easing across various regions. According to the latest US model, Taiwan will still be influenced by a large low-pressure system during early October with localized and intermittent rain.
Lin predicted the first large cold air mass of fall would likely come from the north in mid-to-late October.
