TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan High-Speed Rail Corp. (THSRC) on Wednesday announced a limited-time buy one, get one free one-way ticket to areas south of Taichung.
To encourage international visitors to experience Taiwan in-depth and travel further to central and southern regions, the THSRC, in collaboration with the Tourism Administration, has launched a bonus ticket promotion for foreign tourists. Starting Wednesday, foreign travelers with short-term tourist visas can purchase a one-way THSR ticket and receive a free ticket for a second traveler on the same route.
Tourists can purchase one-way THSR tickets through designated platforms like KKday and Klook. If their destination is one of the stations south of Taichung, including Taichung, Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, and Zuoying, they can receive one free ticket for a second person traveling the same route.
The promotion is available only to those holding non-Taiwan passports and short-term entry documents, with a 15% discount for reserved standard seat tickets.
Foreign tourists can purchase tickets in advance through overseas and local distributors partnered with THSRC and use them within 90 days of purchase. To use the tickets, travelers must first make a reservation on the THSR website, then bring the reservation code, passport, and entry documents to any THSR station ticket counter to collect their tickets and board the train.
In addition to the buy one, get one free offer, foreign tourists can choose the THSR Pass or the THSR&TR Joint Pass allowing unlimited rides on the THSR within a specified number of days and across any region, based on their travel needs.
