TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tropical Storm Pulasan is forecast to bring rain to parts of Taiwan from Wednesday to Thursday (Sept. 18-19).
As of 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Pulasan was located 1,250 km east-southeast of Taipei heading northwest at 45 km/h, reported the Central Weather Administration (CWA). The CWA said as Pulasan moves toward the Ryukyu Islands on Wednesday, rain is likely in the north, east, Hengchun Peninsula, Penghu, and Matsu.
Meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) said the latest European model shows that the rain will continue on Thursday in the north and east. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely in mountainous areas of the west.
From Wednesday to Thursday, daytime temperatures will range between 24 C to 35 C in the north, 23 to 36 C in central Taiwan, 24 to 36 C in the south, and 21 to 35 C in the east.
From Friday to Tuesday, Wu said moisture from the south will move northward leading to increased rainfall. Daytime temperatures on Friday and Saturday will still be high, with localized showers or thunderstorms possible in the south and afternoon thunderstorms in the west.
