TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A suspected food poisoning incident in Taitung has killed three people who are believed to have eaten food contaminated with pesticides, reports said Wednesday (Sept. 18).
Nine others are currently receiving medical treatment. Millet zongzi are alleged to have been contaminated, per CNA.
Family members have provided the zongzi to the hospital for testing.
Indigenous Taiwanese millet zongzi stands out with its long and rectangular shape, unlike the more common triangular zongzi. They are wrapped with a special technique that resembles bundling pork, according to Cosmopolitan.
