TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taipei Representative Office in Slovakia marked all Taiwanese in the country safe despite the country’s severe flooding.
Lee Nan-yang (李南陽), Taiwan’s representative to Slovakia, confirmed that Taiwanese in Slovakia and Romania are all safe, CNA reported. Li urged Taiwanese in the region to avoid traveling to the mountains and areas near rivers prone to flooding.
The Danube River experienced heavy flooding last weekend. Non-stop rain also affected parts of the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Germany, and Romania. Slovakia’s central and local governments are closely monitoring the rising water levels of the river and are fully prepared for flood control, Li said.
Lee emphasized that during severe weather conditions, people should stay in safe locations and avoid unnecessary travel. He advised closely monitoring updates from local governments and meteorological authorities and taking necessary precautions.
Lee also recommended that Taiwanese expats prepare emergency supplies such as drinking water, food, and first aid kits to handle any potential emergencies. In the event of any sudden incidents or if assistance is needed, he encouraged them to contact the representative office.
