TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Chunghwa Telecom announced Wednesday (Sept. 11) it will partner with Nokia to bring 5G download speeds up to 2.34 Gbps to Taiwan.
According to a Chunghwa press release on Wednesday, the partnership will use Nokia’s AirScale radio base stations. The stations will employ 5G Carrier Aggregation (CA) technology, which includes the industry’s largest continuous 3.5 GHz and 2.1 GHz spectrums.
The company said it plans to deploy Nokia’s latest base stations in densely populated areas across Taiwan to further high-speed mobile services, per CNA.
Chunghwa Telecom President of Network Technology Group Alex Chien (簡志誠) said the company “possesses the largest 4G/5G mainstream spectrum bandwidth of 290 MHz and the largest contiguous 5G mainstream spectrum bandwidth of 90 MHz.”
“Nokia has been a long-term high-quality partner of Chunghwa Telecom, providing high-performance, energy-efficient base station hardware,” Chien added. “Advanced 5G CA software technology can fully leverage Chunghwa Telecom’s wide bandwidth advantages, offering customers the best mobile service experience.”
